"A Quick Baseline Read on Body Composition"

BIA Body Composition Analysis

A quick baseline read on body composition. You get body fat percentage, fat free mass percentage, and how much water is held in your muscle versus under your skin.

BIA takes a few minutes and gives you a starting point you can measure against later. It is also the tracking tool built into our First Line Therapy program, where scans are repeated at weeks 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 so you can see the change rather than guess at it.

What is Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis?

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis sends a safe, imperceptible electrical current through the body and measures the resistance it meets along the way. Fat, muscle, and water each conduct that current differently, and those differences are what the reading is built from.

The result is a breakdown of body fat percentage, fat free mass percentage, and where your body water is sitting: inside the muscle, or under the skin. That water split matters, because two people at the same weight and the same body fat percentage can be carrying very different amounts of fluid.

The scan is non-invasive, requires no special preparation, and you will not feel anything while it runs.

Key Benefits

A Baseline You Can Measure Against

A single number on a bathroom scale cannot tell you whether you lost fat, lost muscle, or lost water. BIA separates those, so the next scan tells you what actually changed.

Built Into First Line Therapy

Our 12-week First Line Therapy program includes six BIA scans, spaced so you and your provider can adjust the plan while it is still running rather than waiting until the end to find out how it went.

Fast and Non-Invasive

No radiation, no fasting requirement, no discomfort. The scan takes a few minutes and you get your numbers the same visit.

Who Benefits from BIA Testing?

First Line Therapy Patients

Six scans are built into the 12-week program, at weeks 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12, so your provider can adjust the plan while it is still running rather than waiting until the end.

Anyone Starting a Weight or Nutrition Plan

A starting point you can measure against, so the next scan tells you whether the change was fat, muscle, or water instead of leaving you to guess.

People Tracking Strength or Rehab Progress

Fat free mass percentage shows whether the work is building muscle, which the number on a bathroom scale cannot tell you on its own.

Anyone Watching Fluid Retention

The scan separates water held inside the muscle from water held under the skin, so two people at the same weight and body fat are not read as the same.
