Karen Martens, PA-C

Karen Martens joins the team with more than 18 years of experience in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Functional/Integrative Medicine. Karen received her Physician Assistant degree from Wayne State University in 1998 and has also completed a Master’s degree in Physiology.  She has always been fascinated with the connection and integrative nature of body and mind and its inherent nature to achieve homeostasis.

In her experience with a diverse population of patients, Karen has seen first hand the long-term consequences of the lack of an integrative health care system:  chronic disease, misdiagnosis,  improper nutrition and exercise, and an inadequate support system. With a personal interest in yoga and nutrition,  practicing conventional medicine became increasing difficult.  She feels the body is able to heal itself when given the proper direction and tools – those tools and support that are at the core of Total Health Systems focus and purpose.

Karen is very excited to join Total Health System’s team and their comprehensive/integrative approach to patient care and wellness.  She looks forward to supporting you in achieving your optimal health goals.
